Very Nice Noise

This experiment is official over...

Very Nice Noise is primarily a netlabel, which means that we offer music that is available exclusively through free MP3 downloads, and we will eventually start releasing the occasional CD-R and DVD-R releases as well. All MP3 releases on this site are free for you to download and distribute as you wish, as long as it it not done for profit. The label was started to help give more control back to the talented artists of the noise "music" community by way of faster turn around times on releases, no file type restrictions (if you want to release in the less popular OGG format, that's cool with us) and by giving artists the ability to maintain their own artist profile on the site. Our genre focus, as our name suggests is noise (harsh noise, drone, glitch, power electronics and the like).

Very Nice Noise is a non-profit project, and any earnings made from the sale of our physical releases and other merchandise is applied towards our web site hosting fees and future physical releases. All rights of the artists and of their recorded material are reserved. All tracks and tracks and graphics are copyright of their respective authors.

Drones and glitched out samples are mixed together with abstract beats that will leave you wanting more. Well it left me wanting more, at just over 16 minutes, it's definitely too short, so we're definitely looking forward to a follow up in the future.

From the first track of the countdown to the number eleven, I was blown away. Ambient textures and percussives along with slightly detuned guitar chords all packaged together in a neat little box. Often times through out this release, I felt a sense of urgency that a track was building into a huge rock ballad or something of the like, but instead left me with anticipating what was to come next. Volume swells and a beautifully spacey as well a rhythmic synth lines also made their appearance on...

Just after settling down from an Australian tour in support of last release, "Stereo 8" (a box set featuring eight 8-track cassettes) the experimental act known as A Street Car Named Vagina set out to capture the visceral sound that had taken them well over a decade to develope. Recorded November 5th, 2008 in an unsecured bunker in the Midwest comes "onetwothree", done in a single take with the rawest of materials and without any post-processing whatsoever. I was advised...

"My longest single release ever: six hours of noise spanning 100 tracks. Some tracks are in the style of "Water Bottle Caps", using samples in irregular ways and turning rhythmic tracks into ambiance. Others are more styled in the way of "Floor of a Cell", in the way of harsh noise dispersed in short tracks. The rest of the tracks are remixes of old songs or re-releases of "Zero Acid" tracks. I suppose the only place to go from here is to make the 24 hour long...

The first official Insecticide Lobotomy release. This release was my 20th recorded "experiment" and marks the moment when I felt comfortable enough to release a full album. Incidentally, this was originally released on the wonderful Noise-Joy netlabel, but due to their downloads being offline for a while, I decided to release under my own imprint.

Sixteen Years of Being Afraid is a mixture of harsh noise and 8-bit sounds that can only be describe as a computer gone awry. The textures created are woven into a composition that is full of high and low dynamics that I find very easy to listen to and comprehend plus a sense of emotion that ties the soundtrack back to it's title. The included text file includes the original titles in Russian.

Indra is an improvised recording made using a just laptop, a contact-miked Indian drum and a delay pedal. It's named after the Vedic god of war and weather, and, as such, is an expression of raw emotion and subconscious mindsets as much as a "serious", exploratory electroacoustic records. It incorporates elements of psychedelic music, harsh noise, glitch, ambient and more.

Probably some of the most rhythmic harsh noise you will ever hear. Glitches are used to simulate machine gun rhythms and other effects / noises are layered in and around to give a sense of actual song structure as well as dynamics. The waves of complex harsh noise and industrial elements swell and diminish just often enough to make sure you don't suffer from ear strain.

Needle Nightclub Noise, the latest on Very Nice Noise by Hourglass Drops is short (perhaps too short) 4 track harsh noise endeavor. The album incorporates a good number of vocal samples (tastefully I might add) and a precise level of glitchiness that only Hourglass Drops can manifest.

Apathy by Bulgarian noisician GENDA is a very short (2 tracks) industrial noise endeavor. The tile track takes ambient textures and mixes them with industrial clanks and scrapes to create a soundtrack for life in some sort of futuristic factory (like something out of the Alien movies). Porno nation takes the same formula and shakes it up with some samples of orgasmic moaning. Even though it's short, this release provides some very complex and dense listening.

"dir egal" which loosely translates to "you don't care" or "doesn't matter to you" (from the author, "it's not possible to translate it directly into English, with only 2 words). Fortunately, you don't need to translate the title to enjoy this release. Just over 25 minutes of ambient textures filled with static and depth. Along with the textures and background noise, buzzing synth lines fade in and out to give a sense of rhythm and movement in and out of the...

Four untitled tracks of harsh fucking noise from tomb whacker and assholemouthead. The front of the split is assholemouthead and the tracks carry a very lo-fi aesthetic (they sound like they were recorded in a cave, in a good way) with a very spacey / eerie vibe. The back side of the split is tomb whacker, with a denser more complex contribution. Both artists' tracks have good movement that keep your ears from going numb.

Quite the departure from the harsh noise that is usually produced by Texas' own System 09. The later tracks on the album are very glitchy and at times draw on the simple sounds of dadaism.
